North Texas man hit by car while mowing neighbor's lawn

Danny Adams was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital after a vehicle hit him while he mowed a neighbor's yard.

SPRINGTOWN, Texas — A North Texas man was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle while mowing his neighbor’s lawn.

On Monday, Danny Adams was mowing his neighbor’s yard along Ross Lane in Springtown, Texas, northwest of Fort Worth.

Adams, who often helps his neighbors by mowing their yards at no cost, was airlifted to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. On Friday, his wife, Michelea Adams told WFAA he suffered a brain bleed, several broken back and leg bones and a fractured hip.

“He was at the edge of the driveway, and all of a sudden, a car hit his lawn mower and threw him about 34 feet across the driveway,” Michelea said.

Adams had to undergo several surgeries and remains in the hospital.

“It was a very hard hit,” Michelea said. “It’s been really hard. I thank God every day that he’s still with me, cause I didn’t know what kind of shape he was in.”

Michelea said a neighbor heard the vehicle hit him and found him on the ground. The neighbor called 911 and contacted Michelea, who was at the store when the incident occurred.

The driver remained on the scene, Michelea said. On Friday, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office didn’t respond to WFAA’s request for more information on the incident. The Parker County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t announced what caused the driver to hit Adams or whether the driver may face charges.

“Just be careful on back country roads, lately we’ve had a lot of wrecks in our area,” Michelea said.

Adams’s family has launched a GoFundMe to cover his medical expenses since he’s uninsured.

Adams's sister, Vivian Steinly, said he's the type of person who always put others before himself.

"He's just a Good Samaritan. He loves God, and he loves his family and doing things for other people," Steinly said. "No matter how hurt somebody is, never lose your faith. God has been with him all the way."
