FORT WORTH, Texas -- At a certain point, Jordan Reddish had seen enough at the US Post Office branch on Las Vegas Trail.
The young father was there on Tuesday afternoon to track down a lost package. That wasn't what ultimately prompted him to start recording video on his cell phone.
"I thought it was really rude in the first place to being throwing that, so I thought I'm gonna videotape this and it blew up," said Reddish.
The video shows two unidentified employees behind the front counter, with one of them using some muscle to throw packages, boxes and other mail into far away mail bins.
"I was thinking, 'Man, some of those boxes may have breakable things in it," said Reddish. "She didn't look at all happy."
Reddish's Facebook post is going viral, notching thousands of views in the past couple of days. Most of the viewers aren't too impressed with what they see.
Neither was the USPS, which issued a statement:
"A mishandled package is unacceptable and does not reflect the careful efforts of the thousands of professional, dedicated employees in our workforce. We were disappointed to see the actions of the clerk in the video and apologize for any inconvenience. The Postal Service is investigating the matter and will follow up to reaffirm existing guidelines governing how to correctly handle mail and packages.”
At Fort Worth's Box & Ship, a local favorite for families that live on Camp Bowie Blvd, the video was met with a slight chuckle and a warning.
"A good rule of thumb that we teach all of our employees is always have a hand on the package," said owner Rajan Dorasami. "Mostly, it just looks like bad customer service."
Reddish said the clerks were also rude, and that ongoing issues at the branch reflect poorly on other postal workers who do good work.
"You don't have to like everybody, but be nice," he said.
