HEB Grocery will be the main anchor tenant at a new shopping center in Mansfield.
The Mansfield City Council unanimously approved a zoning change for the southeast corner of East Broad Street and U.S. 287 on Monday night to make way for the supermarket.
In all, the development will have 240,000 square feet of retail and restaurants on 33.7 acres. The HEB supermarket will be between 80,000 to 106,000 square feet. There will also be junior anchors, a strip center and pad sites for several restaurants. The council limited the fast-food restaurants to three.
“This project represents another clear indication of how Mansfield is living up to its ‘best places to live’ designation,” Mayor David Cook said in a prepared statement.
A timeline for the project hasn’t yet been released but the developer’s agreement mandates that construction start by 2019.
