Grass fire chars 150 acres in Tarrant County

Firefighters battled a grass fire Saturday afternoon off Loop 820 near Team Ranch Road in southwest Fort Worth. Flames initially spread along railroad tracks, and jumped a few streets, but crews were able to contain the fire to some pastures.

FORT WORTH Firefighters from multiple departments battled a grass fire Saturday afternoon off Loop 820 near Team Ranch Road in southwest Tarrant County.

Flames initially spread along railroad tracks, and jumped a few streets, but crews were able to contain the fire to some pastures.

About 150 acres were charred.

There are homes spread out in the area, and some were in danger for a time. But the Tarrant County Fire Marshal said those homes are now safe from fire.

Firefighters from Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Parker County, Benbrook, Crowley, Edgecliff, River Oaks, Lake Worth, Aledo, Cresson, Blue Mound, Haslet, Eagle Mountain and White Settlement were among those helping to bring the flames under control.
