FORT WORTH, Texas — A popular Fort Worth ice cream chain, Melt, announced it will close its downtown Sundance Square location Sept. 8, while hinting at opening another downtown location.

The company announced the closure on Facebook on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The chain's four other locations, including those on Magnolia Ave. in south Fort Worth and Mule Alley in the Stockyards, remain open. Melt also has a Dallas location and plans to open a new spot at 480 Shops Blvd. in Willow Park.

"We’ve created so many happy memories with our downtown community and are grateful for your support over the years," the post reads.

Melt Ice Cream opened a small shop in the Sundance Square location five years ago, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The Sundance Square Melt location was in the same building as long-time Sundance Square tenants Reata and Four Day Weekend -- which also recently left Sundance Square.

While it may be the end of Melt in Sundance Square, the large chunk of downtown Fort Worth owned by the billionaire Bass family, the Facebook post hinted at another possible downtown location.

"We’re excited to share upcoming developments in downtown Fort Worth," the post reads.
