FORT WORTH, Texas — One person is dead and another was transported to a hospital for treatment following an overnight shooting in Fort Worth, law enforcement officials said.
Shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday, Fort Worth police said officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of E. Lancaster Ave. after receiving a call about a reported shooting.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers said they located a deceased shooting victim and another person suffering from injuries sustained in a shooting. The second victim, police said, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
At the scene, FWPD said, officers located and detained the suspect they believed to be responsible for the shooting. According to police, their investigation revealed that the suspect and victims were involved in a physical altercation at the scene, which led to the suspect producing a handgun and shooting at the victims.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigated the case, police said.
