Procession, funeral and honor services held for fallen Fort Worth Police Sergeant

The events began at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. The funeral was livestreamed.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A procession, funeral and honor services will be held to celebrate the life of Forth Worth Police Sergeant Billy Randolph who died while responding to a crash last week. 

The procession will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Saturday, Aug. 17 from Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, 505 W. Felix St., Fort Worth, to Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Ave. The procession is expected to last until 9:15 a.m. 

The funeral will be open to the public, according to a press release from the Fort Worth Police Department. Expect limited seating inside the church Sanctuary. Overflow seating will be at the Link building connected to the South side of the Sanctuary, according to the release. You can also watch the service from the Will Rogers Auditorium at 3401 W. Lancaster Ave.

Public parking is available at Dickies Yellow Lot with shuttle services, the release states. 

Sergeant Randolph was responding to a crash and fire on I-35 early Monday morning when police say a drunk driver drove through protective barriers and hit him. Police said other officers tried to save him and rushed him to JPS hospital, but Randolph didn’t survive his injuries. 

25-year-old De Aujalae Evans is charged with Intoxication Manslaughter Causing the Death of a Peace Officer.

Community members, colleagues and family friends paid their respects during a candlelight vigil Wednesday, Aug. 14. Those who served in the department alongside Randolph shared their fond memories of him.
