3 firefighters injured in Fort Worth house fire, officials say

The Fort Worth Fire Department responded to a home around 6 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of East Cannon Street, officials said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Three firefighters were injured while responding to a fire engulfing a Fort Worth home, officials said. 

The Fort Worth Fire Department responded to a house fire around 6 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of East Cannon Street, according to a release from the department.

When crews arrived, the fire had already engulfed the home, according to the release. As firefighters fought the flame, the fire changed dramatically, officials said.  

The incident commander called for an evacuation and called a "mayday" as two firefighters bailed out of a second-story window, according to the release. 

Those two firefighters and another firefighter sustained injuries and were transported to Parkland Hospital. Officials did not immediately release information about the firefighter's condition. 

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire, according to the release. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced resident with assistance.
