Fatal crash kills 1 person, suspect runs away on foot, police say

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police have made an arrest after a hit-and-run crash that killed one person Saturday. 

Police responded to a major crash around 9:22 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 in the 2100 block of Jacksboro Highway, Fort Worth police said in a press release. 

Officers found that the suspect's vehicle hit the victim's vehicle, causing them to be ejected from their vehicle, the release states. The victim, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as Arturo Infante, 40, was taken to a hospital and later died from their injuries, police said. 

The suspect left the scene on foot before officers arrived, the release states. Police later arrested 25-year-old Jose Ramirez Olmedo about half a mile from the scene in the 2000 block of Standifer St., according to FWPD.

Olmedo is charged with an accident involving death and is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $20,000 bond, police said.

The Fort Worth Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the incident, police said.
