FORT WORTH, Texas — The woman accused of hitting and killing Fort Worth police officer Billy Randolph while drunk was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury Friday, according to a new filing.
De Aujalae Evans, 25, was indicted for intoxication manslaughter of a police officer with a deadly weapon, according to the filing.
Evans remains in jail as of Oct. 28 and her bond is set at $750,000, according to jail records.
She is accused of drunkenly crashing into Randolph and killing him Aug. 12. Evans told officers that she had around 10 shots of alcohol before the crash happened and she also did not stop driving for another quarter-mile after hitting the officer, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Randolph, a 29-year police veteran, was working an early-morning crash on Interstate 35W when a car drove through the scene and hit him, WFAA previously reported. Randolph was standing on a highway off-ramp when Evans, driving a 2020 Nissan Versa, allegedly went the wrong way on the ramp and hit him, the affidavit said.
He was taken to a hospital where he died. Evans was arrested shortly after the crash.
Evans is on probation for a previous incident in which she was convicted of shooting a woman in March of 2023, according to records. She pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced to six years of probation and was ordered to refrain from alcohol as a condition of her probation, WFAA previously reported.
Randolph's celebration of life was held Saturday, Aug. 17.
