FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police are investigating a Friday shooting in which they said a man was shot in his car and later died from his injuries.
Per the Fort Worth Police Department, officers were called to the 1000 block of NW. 16th Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. to investigate reports of a shooting.
Upon arriving the scene, police said, officers found an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officials transported the victim to a local hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
The Tarrant County Medical examiner later identified the victim as Casey Robert Guerrero, 46, of Fort Worth.
Police said their investigation into the incident showed that Guerrero was sitting his car when he was shot at least once by an unknown suspect.
The shooter, police said, had left the scene prior to the officers' arrival.
The Fort Worth Police Department said its homicide unit is investigating the incident and is currently pursuing "several leads" in its ongoing investigation into it.
