GRAPEVINE -- Lake levels are once again a topic of conversation in Grapevine after Tuesday's rain showers.

Levels have remained high at the lake since November's floods, mainly because there isn't a place for all of the extra water, according to Mona Burk with the city.

"The lake parks are still closed, along with the boat ramps," Burk told News 8 last week.

It was sunny that day, but water levels were still 14 feet over the normal pool. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was set to increase the rate of release at the lake, and the city was hoping to see levels drop.

It may not look that way Tuesday, but the lake is down several feet since the Corps started its release, and the plan is to get elevation back to normal in the next few weeks.

"We would like to say that the lake, parks, and boat ramps will be open by late spring," Burk said.

Tuesday's rain isn't expected to have a significant impact on that goal, but in order to reach it, the city will rely heavily on a dry spring.
