Arrests in slaying of former Wyatt High School track star

FORT WORTH — Three people have been jailed in connection with the November robbery and fatal shooting of a former Wyatt High School track star and state champion.

William James Harris, 22, was arrested on a capital murder warrant early Tuesday in connection with November 10 death of Chester Lee Johnson Jr.

Last week, two other suspects — 17-year-old Anthony Marshal and 21-year-old Candra Sanders —were also arrested on capital murder warrants in the case.

Johnson, 32, was found shot in his 1999 four-door Acura at about 2:20 a.m. Nov. 10 in the 3700 block of Village Creek Road in east Fort Worth. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died from gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen.

No further details about the case were provided by police Wednesday.

Marshal and Sanders remained in the Tarrant County Jail Wednesday with bail set at $250,000 for each. Harris was being held Wednesday in the Mansfield jail with his bail also set at $250,000, jail records show.
