Arlington retirement community evacuated after 3-alarm fire, officials say

The Arlington Fire Department is responding to a 3-alarm fire at an assisted living facility, officials said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — An Arlington retirement community was evacuated Sunday after a 3-alarm fire, officials said.

Several fire engines and ambulances responded to Arlington Plaza Sky Active Living around 10:45 a.m., Sunday, Sept 22. The facility is located at 6801 W Poly Webb Road in Arlington.

About 80 residents and their pets live at the facility, officials told WFAA. Three patients were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation, officials said.

The fire started on a balcony but did not spread into the actual residence,  Adam Evans, Arlington Fire Department public information officer, said at a press conference.

The building has been cleared and residents were let back into the building around 12:30 p.m.

A public information officer is en route to the scene to provide more information. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
