ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police briefly asked residents in the area of the 3600 block of Sandhurst Drive to shelter in place Monday afternoon before a SWAT team arrested a man in a home with a gun, officials say.
Police say they responded to the home in the 3600 block of Sandhurst Drive, about half a mile from S.J. Stovall Park, shortly after noon and officers at the scene found a man "dealing with some emotional distress" in a home with a gun.
WFAA chopper footage showed multiple police vehicles responded to the scene. Everyone in the home was outside and there were no reports of any injuries, according to police.
Officers tried to communicate with the man and get him to come outside and the police department's SWAT team was called to help, police say. The man was later identified by police as 30-year-old Anthony McDonald.
Arlington PD asked nearby residents to shelter in place after officers saw McDonald with the gun.
He eventually came outside and was taken into custody, police say.
No other details were immediately available.
This is a developing story. WFAA will update this story as additional information becomes available.
