ARLINGTON -- We got a new preview Wednesday of how a new entertainment destination near Globe Life Park will look in Arlington.
City leaders unanimously voted in favor of the new $200 million project Tuesday night.
The city is partnering with the Texas Rangers baseball team and real estate developer The Cordish Company for a venue called Texas Live!
It will add a new place for live entertainment and music, as well as shopping, restaurants, hotel space and a renovated convention center near the ballpark.
Arlington's mayor says it will not only boost tourism and give fans a new place be entertained, it will also help strengthen the community.
"And it also is going to be opportunity for people to come here and stay multiple nights and also experience Dallas and Fort Worth and all of the things we have to offer here in North Texas," Mayor Jeff Williams said.
Under the plan, the City of Arlington and the Rangers will contribute $50 million each.
The Texas Rangers will also get performance-based incentives.
