THE COLONY, Texas — Dinner with a side of surfing is now a thing in North Texas.
Fireside Surf, a surfing restaurant and bar, held its soft opening Friday at the Grandscape development in The Colony.
Fireside opened up surf sessions through its online booking, and dinner reservations were expected to open sometime this weekend. And sure enough, by Friday afternoon, there were surfers trying out Fireside's wave pool.
Fireside's pool has "customizable and endless deep-water waves up to 6 feet" and will have levels for beginners to pros, according to their website announcement last year. Fireside also offers lessons, too, that will include a "skill-appropriate" surfboard.
Fireside's pool is part of their partnership with Citywave, which develops the wave pools. Citywave pools can have up to eight people surf at the same time and up to 15 people per session, their website said.
The Fireside location will also offer a full menu of food and drinks, including cocktails.
Fireside Surf picked an active area of North Texas for its first location.
The growing Grandscape development in The Colony includes multiple restaurants and stores, including Andretti Indoor Karting, NFM, Scheel's and Portillo's, the Chicago-based hot dog and Italian beef restaurant.
And Fireside adds to a trend of amusement offerings coming to North Texas. Universal Studios earlier this year announced plans for a new kids-focused theme park in Frisco, and North Richland Hills this month announced plans for a Peppa Pig-themed park.
