DALLAS — An odor investigation in Downtown Dallas prompted a hazmat response on Thursday afternoon.
The incident began just after 3 p.m. at 208 S. Akard Street after someone reported a "strong natural gas odor outside of AT&T Discovery," according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
DFR’s hazmat team and Atmos were called to investigate the situation. Crews went inside the building and the surrounding locations and they say they didn't pick up any gas readings.
However, their strongest readings of gas were discovered outside the buildings.
"The source of the leak was discovered to be in an area near a manhole outside of the building, and Atmos technicians are currently addressing the situation," said DFR in a statement.
Crews will continue to measure those gas levels until there is thorough confirmation it’s not present there anymore.
There are no injuries and no danger to the public, according to DFR.
