DALLAS — The State Fair of Texas on Tuesday announced dates and times for its annual sensory-friendly offerings for 2024.
The fair for the sixth year will host sensory-friendly mornings every Wednesday during three-week run at Fair Park: Oct. 2, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The sensory-friendly mornings will offer children and their families a fair experience that includes adjustments to "accommodate any sensory-related-concerns," according to a State Fair of Texas press release.
The adjustments will include a special guided itinerary with a list of activities and exhibits "that are easy on the eyes and ears," and a lights- and sounds-free Midway from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in designated "quiet zones."
The itinerary can be found at BigTex.com/Sensory.
The State Fair of Texas is again partnering with Joni and Friends Texas on the first sensory-friendly morning, Oct. 2. Joni and Friends, a nonprofit aimed at supporting people with disabilities, will provide a volunteer buddy for families to provide any extra help they might need.
Families can register for the buddy program here.
