SPRINGTOWN, Texas — Officials have disciplined a student accused of writing "offensive content" on bathroom walls at Springtown High School in Parker County, according to a news release.
School officials did not confirm what was written on the walls but said the district is "committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment" and that it won't tolerate "behavior that goes against these principles."
"It is disheartening to think that one of our students engaged in such inappropriate behavior," the news release said. "We firmly believe in loving and supporting every student, regardless of their race, size, ethnicity, or any other characteristic. Vandalism not only undermines the values we uphold but also disrespects the efforts we've made to provide a positive and welcoming atmosphere for our students."
School officials in a letter to parents this week said a student vandalized a bathroom at the high school. When administrators were notified, the vandalism was "immediately taken down," the letter said.
Officials reviewed security camera footage and did a handwriting analysis to find the student who vandalized the bathroom. Officials said the student, who is not being named, then confessed to the vandalism.
Officials said "appropriate disciplinary actions" will be taken against the student, but they didn't say what those were.
"We want to emphasize that this type of conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated within our school district," officials said in the release.
The release also said officials will "view this incident as an opportunity to instill valuable life lessons and foster personal growth."
