Shooting death of Keller Timber Creek teen a 'tragic accident,' police say

Police hadn't released more details about the shooting death of Christopher Mosley, 16, until Tuesday.

Police say the shooting death of a teen in Denton County earlier this month was a "tragic accident" involving another juvenile handling a loaded weapon.

Christopher Mosely, 16, a student at Keller Timber Creek High School in north Fort Worth, was found dead of a gunshot wound at a home in the 1400 block of Tumbleweed Trail in Northlake on Nov. 17. Police hadn't released more details about how the shooting happened until Tuesday.

Investigators learned that Mosely was shot by accident, according to a police news release. He was at the Northlake home with three other juveniles, who left before police arrived. Their names are not being release.

Northlake is in southern Denton County, along Interstate 35. Northlake police and the Denton County sheriff's department are still investigating the incident and will "consult" with the district attorney's office, the news release said.
