FORT WORTH, Texas — Frightening moments were caught on traffic cameras after a semi-truck burst into flames after crashing into an unoccupied minivan Tuesday morning, officials said.
Just before 7 a.m.officers with the Fort Worth Police Department responded to a major accident on West Loop 820 near Team Ranch Road.
The semi-truck driver lost control and veered across the freeway lanes before slamming into the minivan left on the shoulder of the freeway, according to FWPD.
That's when both vehicles burst into flames. The semi-truck driver was able to escape from his truck with non-life-threatening injuries.
It's unclear what caused the driver to lose control.
Officials had to shut down the entrance on-ramp, and northbound drivers were reduced to one lane along the freeway for several hours.
