GARLAND, Texas — At the end of the workday, Keenan Allemond makes sure every firearm is taken off the shelves and put into a safe at the Lateral Limits gun shop in Garland.
“The guns, optics, and suppressors are saved up every night,” Allemond told WFAA.
He’s done this every year since he opened four years ago, yet it still fails to keep intruders away.
On July 19, around 2:30 a.m., Garland Police say thieves drove a car through the storefront.
“I didn’t want to look at the footage,” said Allemond. “Everything was tipped over, knocked over, displaced, crushed."
Security cameras captured the moments when it happened. The video shows the thieves driving a silver Kia through the front of the store. Once inside, the driver tries to pull back out but gets stuck on the framing. The video shows one of the suspects stuck under the frame as the car backs out.
Allemond said they only stole two knives and a flashlight, but the cost of the repairs reached well into the thousands.
“I’m out of pocket every bit of about 20 grand,” he said. And police haven’t made any arrests.
Allemond said this was the third time his shop was broken into. After the first incident, he put a sign on the door that reads “Please note, all firearms and optics are locked up when closed.”
Allemond said they finally completed the necessary repairs on Wednesday.
“I’m not going to cut any corners when it comes to the security of the front of the shop,” he said.
He is hosting the store's grand re-opening and fourth anniversary on Oct. 12. Allemond said he was thankful for everyone who helped as they worked to fix the damage.
