DALLAS — Crews have returned to White Rock Lake Monday morning, searching for the body of a missing Grand Prairie woman.
The search for Weltzin Garcia intensifies after officials recovered the body of a missing Grand Prairie man from the lake near the spillway on Sunday.
Alfonso Hernandez's body was spotted around 9 a.m. and quickly drew the attention of Dallas police officers and firefighters, who retrieved it and transported it to land, according to a Sunday news release from the Dallas Police Department.
Police had been searching the lake for Hernandez and Weltzin Garcia after their car was found abandoned nearby on Feb. 5. Hernandez had a warrant on a family violence assault charge when the couple disappeared.
Investigators from Child Protective Services placed the couple's two children in foster care after their disappearance over safety concerns until Hernandez could be located.
Garcia's twin sister Atziry Garcia told WFAA Sunday evening she was being reunited with the children.
CPS later confirmed both children were returned to family.
