ARLINGTON, Texas — A period of intensified impaired driving enforcement in the run-up to (and through) Labor Day weekend saw significant results following its first weekend of implementation across Dallas-Fort Worth this year, as law enforcement officials made a number of DWI arrests.

This collaborative effort, dubbed "Saturation Saturday" and spearheaded by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, saw the Fort Worth Police Department, the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office and several other North Texas law enforcement agencies taking part in the initiative at least partly in response to an uptick in high-profile fatal collisions involving allegedly impaired drivers in Fort Worth.

The below DFW-area agencies reported the following number of driving while intoxicated (DWI) arrests on Saturday alone:

  • Lake Worth PD: 6 DWI arrests
  • North Richland Hills PD: 3 DWI arrests
  • White Settlement PD: 3 DWI arrests
  • Grand Praire PD: 5 DWI arrests
  • Hurst PD: 2 DWI arrests
  • Tarrant County Sheriff's Office: 8 DWI arrests
  • Arlington PD: 10 DWI arrests

Combined, that adds up to 37 arrests on Driving While Intoxicated charges across North Texas.

One arrest by White Settlement PD involved a suspect losing control of their vehicle and crashing into a home in the 8300 block of Whitney Drive. Police said no one inside the home was injured.
