MESQUITE, Texas — A 38-year-old woman was identified as the victim who died in a crash on Highway 80 in Mesquite on Saturday, officials said.

Sara Martinez, of Dallas, who was the driver, died in the crash, which happened around 2 a.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of eastbound U.S. 80, according to a news release from Mesquite Police Department.

Martinez's Mazda 3 left the roadway and collided with the concrete barrier on the median, police said. The collision caused the vehicle to roll over, ejecting Martinez, who died at the scene.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash but noted that heavy rain was happening at the time and that roads were "extremely wet."
