RHOME, Texas — A boil water notice has been lifted for residents in Rhome in Wise County, officials said Thursday.
The boil water notice was put into effect Monday after water main breaks caused a system pressure drop Sunday in the Walnut Creek Special Utility District, headquartered in Springtown in Parker and Wise Counties, which affected the entry point to Rhome’s water system.
The boil water notice affected all customers that receive a city of Rhome water bill, officials say.
“The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of September 5, 2024," an update shared by Rhome officials read.
The two water main breaks were repaired on Monday and crews began work on sending water distribution to the city of Rhome’s water system Tuesday, officials say.
