RHOME, Texas — The North Texas city of Rhome issued a boil water notice for residents Wednesday after a water valve malfunction led to a loss of water pressure.

The city on Wednesday morning notified residents who live in Old Town and Crown Point to boil their water before using it.

"To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes," the notice said. "The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes."

The city will let residents know when the boil advisory has been lifted. Rhome's public works department has fixed the valve problem, which led to a complete loss of water pressure Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
