ARLINGTON, Texas — The Portillo's footprint keeps growing in North Texas.
The Chicago-founded hot dog and Italian beef joint is apparently opening its Arlington location soon on South Cooper Street at Interstate 20. The company said it planned to open the spot by the end of the year. And on Wednesday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Bud Kennedy reported it was open for limited walk-in service Wednesday.
It's not clear when the restaurant will open full-time.
The 7,800-square-foot restaurant will feature a double drive-thru lane and seating for 180 customers.
Portillo's earlier this year posted about job opportunities at the Arlington location. Anyone interested in applying should visit the Portillo's careers website.
Portillo's first opened a North Texas location in The Colony earlier this year, a location that soon became Portillo's top-selling location across the country, bringing in nearly $50,000 per day.
It later announced plans for the Arlington location, as well as locations in Allen (U.S. 75 and Stacy Road), Fort Worth (North Tarrant Parkway and I-35W), Denton (Rayzor Ranch development) and Mansfield (410 U.S. 287).
A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows the Chicago-based restaurant will begin work on a new location in Mansfield in December.
Located at 410 U.S. 287, the new Portillo's (Nasdaq: PTLO) is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2024. The construction cost for the 7,700-square-foot project is estimated at $4.1 million.
Illinois-based Jenson and Jensen Associates is listed as the design firm on the filing.
The Mansfield location will be located within Shops at Broad retail center, which got a new owner earlier this year when Trez Capital took over the property.
The Dallas Business Journal contributed to this report.
