Plano home partially collapses in fire, officials say

Officials said a firefighter was injured during the Tuesday night incident but has since been released from the hospital.

PLANO, Texas — A house in Plano is severely damaged after a fire caused a partial collapse Tuesday night.

Plano Fire-Rescue posted about the fire on its social media pages.

The fire happened in the 5000 block of Royal Creek, near the intersection of Parker and Preston Roads. Plano FR units were assigned to the fire just after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Plano FR shared that the fire was showing through the roof of the home minutes after they arrived.

Officials told WFAA that parts of the back and one side of the home also collapsed. Because of that, crews had to put out the fire from outside and above the house.

The homeowners made it out safely, according to Plano FR.

Officials also said one firefighter was injured on the job. He was treated at a hospital and released later that night.

Plano officials told WFAA that the fire showed through roof but a smoke explosion in the attic pushed the flames into the home.

No other information is available at this time.
