Suspect arrested at DFW Airport in killing of man found dead in Plano backyard, police say

When they arrived, they found a man dead in the backyard of a house. Police did not say if the victim lived at the house, or why he was there.

PLANO, Texas — A 69-year-old man was found dead in a Plano backyard Tuesday evening, and a 39-year-old man faces a murder charge in the case, police said.

Patrick King, of Elburn, Ill., was identified as the man who died, according to a police news release. Andrew James Swetland, of Los Angeles, was arrested at DFW Airport Wednesday morning in connection with the death, police said.

The victim and suspect knew each other, police officials said, but more information about their relationship was not released.

First responders had been called around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to a shooting call in the 4600 block of Bending Oak Trail, near Hedgcoxe Road and the Deerfield neighborhood of Plano.

When they arrived, they found a man dead in the backyard of a house. Police did not say if the victim lived at the house, or why he was there.
