PARIS, Texas — Campbell Soup Company will be transforming its northeast Texas plant, ceasing production of its soups to make the location its flagship sauce facility.

Soup production is being transferred to other sites in the company's network, Campbell's said. Instead, the Paris, Texas facility will focus on Prego Italian sauces and Pace salsa. Those are the primary products currently manufactured at the facility, with only a small volume of soup being produced, about 10% of the total amount of soup the company produced.

"The decision means that Campbell's will continue to be part of the Paris community," the company said in a statement.

However, this two-year transformation is expected to impact about 300 of the nearly 680 jobs at the plant, Campbell's said.

"The company is committed to providing support and assistance to impacted employees throughout the transition," the statement reads.

This 1.5 million square-foot plant, located at 500 Northwest Loop 286, has been in existence for about 60 years, first opening in 1964.
