Thousands gather in Dallas in support of Palestine amid Israel-Hamas conflict

The Sunday protest was put together by local pro-Palestine organizations.

DALLAS — As the conflict between Israelis and the Hamas militant group continues, hundreds of Palestine supporters gathered in Dallas for a protest on Sunday.

The "All Out for Palestine" protest is said to have been organized by multiple Palestinian and Muslim groups, including UT Dallas Students for Justice in Palestine, the Dallas Palestine Coalition and the Muslim American Society.

Posters held during the event condemned the loss of lives over the last week.

As of Oct. 15, the Gaza Health Ministry reported 2,670 Palestinians who were killed and 9,600 injured since the fighting began.

Associated Press reported Sunday that medics in Gaza warned thousands could die as hospitals packed with wounded people ran desperately low on fuel and basic supplies. Palestinians in the besieged coastal enclave struggled to find food, water and safety ahead of an expected Israeli ground offensive

Hospitals in Gaza are expected to run out of generator fuel within two days, endangering the lives of thousands of patients, according to the U.N. Gaza’s sole power plant shut down for lack of fuel after Israel completely sealed off the 40-kilometer (25-mile) long territory following the Hamas attack.

The U.N.'s Palestinian refugee agency says an estimated 1 million people have been displaced in Gaza in a single week.

Israel has called up some 360,000 military reserves and massed troops and tanks along the border with Gaza. Israeli officials gave no timetable for a ground invasion.
