FORT WORTH, Texas — Today's Wednesday's Child is a teenager who believes in the power of preparation and especially in his chance to be someone's son.
Art is an escape for 15-year-old Zeke.
It's also the best way he knows how to express himself, especially about things that hurt.
WFAA met Zeke at the House of NeVille Gallery and Gatherings in Fort Worth.
"I just want to get adopted. I've been in foster care ever since I was 12," he said.
Zeke pictures a family filled with the kind of love he used to receive from his biological grandmother.
"My grandma, she's like a mom to me also. She is the one who took care of me when my mom did the stuff she did," Zeke said.
He hopes the parents who adopt him will allow him to keep in touch with her. She currently lives in a nursing home.
When asked what he would like to tell his grandmother Zeke said, "I am grateful that you're in my life and that you took care of me when no one else was there."
The last three years in foster care have been met with dark moments, but Zeke's bright personality always shines through.
"I'm funny, courageous, and outgoing."
Zeke's key to success is preparation. He even brought a list with him describing the type of family he wants to adopt him.
"The top things are a loving, caring family. Supports LGBTQ, understanding and open-minded. Two younger brothers and one younger sister. I want a dog too," he said.
Zeke stresses the importance of an open-minded family that accepts the LGBTQ community and understands that he identifies as a male.
"I feel like everybody should have equal rights no matter if they're women, men, trans, bi. All of it," he ended his list of wants by asking for a family who "accepts me for who I am."
Zeke is proud of who he is and knows his forever family will be too. The day he gets adopted will truly be a beautiful work of art.
