HURST, Texas — Today's Wednesday's Child are two brothers full of love who need to find a home with parents who understand how to work with children on the autism spectrum.
Fernando is 12 years old, and his older brother Roberto is 15.
While at Fixation VR in Hursdt, WFAA asked 12-year-old Fernando what he wants to feel in a home.
"Happy, proud," he said.
Fernando is talkative, especially when you ask him about his twin sister who has already been adopted.
"I say how was school today? She says good. I say what time you get off of school. She says I don't know," he said.
Fernando is deeply connected to his twin sister and his case worker says the two must always remain in touch.
Roberto, 15, is also close with his little brother. The two of them are on the autism spectrum and need a family who can help them thrive by supporting their strengths and guiding them in their development.
Roberto told us he loves his brother and wants a family who will love and adopt them both.
He's also inquisitive, turning the tables during our interview, and asking WFAA's Cynthia Izaguirre a few questions.
He asked Izaguirre if she liked pizza, chicken and waffles. She answered yes to all three.
The brothers picture their future together in a home where parents provide a lot of positive reinforcement.
"I like my friends and my teachers," said Fernando.
Both boys have been in foster care for 3 years and look forward to living in a home where they feel secure and loved.
Roberto and Fernando say they liked everything about their adventure at Fixation VR. The attention, the interaction, and most of all the hope they felt.
Fernando was especially proud of a picture he drew of a house. He will gift it to his adoptive mother one day.
"My mama picture. I'm trying to make her proud."
