With a smile as bright as the sun, 11-year-old Alexandria is a beautiful child with a great personality.
"I like to get my nails done and I like to color," she said.
Penguins are one of three animals Alexandria likes to color.
"Penguins, because they're unique. Dolphins, because they're pretty." she said. "Cats, because I like their fur."
But it was the jaguar who wanted Alexandria's attention during our taping at the Dallas World Aquarium. The big cat on the other side of the glass caught Alexandria off guard during the taping.
"I was sitting against the glass, and Kaipura (the jaguar) looked at my bow, and she jumped at me and it scared me," she said with a big smile on her face.
Alex is a tough little girl who has been through many hardships in life. She is resilient; a survivor who is grateful to be in a safe foster home.
"I'm happy for having a great family," she said.
Alex, as she's frequently called, enjoys spending time outdoors.
"I like to climb," she said, "especially up trees."
She has a vibrant personality and is honest about how she feels — including the type of family she wants to adopt her.
"A family that cares about me," Alexandria said.
Alex needs a forever family that is patient and committed to helping her work through past abuse and trauma. She needs structure, boundaries, and a nurturing environment.
More than anything, she wants to be loved.
