FORT WORTH, Texas — For those of you who play an instrument, you know about the healing power of music.
Wednesday’s Child Frank, who like to be called David, is learning how to play guitar – so one day he will be able to fill a home with a lot of music and love.
If your home feels empty and quiet, the 16-year-old could be exactly who you’re looking for. He’s a talented young man who is looking to be adopted by a family who will never give up on him.
WFAA recently met up with the teen at the Gladney Center for Adoption in Fort Worth. Singer and Songwriter David Tribble gave the younger David a guitar lesson they both thoroughly enjoyed.
"Whenever I play the guitar, it releases my mind from the stress that I'm thinking about," said David.
He's not just good at it, playing the guitar is his outlet.
"That's why I like to play the guitar because you can really play basically any song," he said.
David enjoys striking the right chord both in life and in any classroom.
"I like school because it challenges me to stay focused and learn a lot of new things."
He’s continuously learning about the healing power of guitars.
"You really have to focus on the guitar more than anything. You can't really have your mind on something else. You have to have your mind on what you're playing," said David.
He entered foster care system in 2019 at the age of 12. Over the last four years, he's worked hard to overcome a lot of grief.
"Thinking that no one loves me and stuff like that sometimes. That was me whenever I first came in. But not so much anymore," he said confidently.
From his caseworkers to his Court Appointed Special Advocates, and even this guitar lesson from Tribble, David has come a long way with the help of advocates.
"They all care about you, and they want to help you," he said.
David would love to share his new guitar skills and his life with a forever family who cares.
"That they know me. That they want to get to know me and that they really want to have me as their child to help me," he said about the idea of adoption.
When asked what kind of parents he wants, David said it doesn't matter as long as they love and support him. He's simply looking for a home where his soul and his music can thrive.
