DALLAS — We have great news about a young man WFAA featured as a Wednesday's child this past summer.
When we first met 15-year-old Tevaughnn, he said he grew up too fast and wanted to experience childhood with a forever family.
An aspiring college football player, Tevaughnn told us he was sad and tired of moving in and out of foster care.
"I'm tired of moving homes. And I need a family that will love me, and I can stay there for the rest of my life," he said.
Well, Tevaughnn's dream came true. Right now, he lives with a family who plans to adopt him in May 2025. They sent WFAA recent photos of Tevaughnn with his future mom, dad and two brothers.
Tevaughnn's future adoptive father, Michael Rourk, provided a statement to WFAA.
"Our family saw Tevaughnn on a Wednesday's Child that aired last June. We had just recently opened our home for foster care but after hearing his story, God apparently had other plans for us. We were so touched by this special young man, that we put our name in the hat and were chosen as the top match for him," Rourk said.
"After multiple visits and lots of prayers, Tevaughnn came to our home for a weekend visit and asked if he could stay forever. What a blessing! We plan on permanent adoption to give Tevaughnn his forever home in May. We've never been happier!"
Tevaughnn has many advocates who helped him reach this moment. They call him a gift.
Tevaughnn told us his heart was broken because he didn't have a forever family. When WFAA asked him the words he wanted to hear from a parent, he didn't hesitate. "I love you, son," he responded.
In this season of miracles, Tevaughnn, we hope you're finally hearing those healing words and that they mend your heart.
