Wednesday's Child 14-year-old Emmett loves reading and hopes his adoption story ends with finding his superhero parents

Emmett has a very bright future, and he hopes more than anything it includes a forever family who loves him.

DALLAS — "Good Job!" Those two words are what Wednesday's Child 14-year-old Emmett wants a mother to say to him.

Emmett is a cool kid who enjoys climbing trees just as much as he does battling robots at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.

"I grew up around trees. They're like one of my earliest memories. Climbing a tree," he said.

WFAA asked him to use three words to describe his personality.

"Funny, smart, and caring," he said without hesitation.

The thought of this adventure at the Perot Museum in Dallas leading to his forever family, is like music to Emmett's ears.

"I will be happy. Will finally be out of care and finally have a home," he said.

Emmett is very sweet, crazy smart, and tired of being stuck in foster care.

"I just got to another placement today," he said. "I'm feeling pretty good overall, though."

As Emmett toured the Paleo Lab at the museum and stared in awe at dinosaur fossils, he told us about giant ambitions of his own.

"I wanna be a firefighter. It's because I want to save people."

He wants to make people's lives better, just like the heroes he reads about in his favorite books.

"It calms me. It's like going to a whole different world. It's pretty cool. If I'm in a bad mood I read a book. Helps you feel better."

Reading is one of Emmett's hobbies.

"He loves to read. Absolutely loves to read. This past month, he's read a total of 7 books," said Larry Matthews.

He is a supervisor with Dallas CASA and has worked with Emmett for several years.

"I do believe it's an escape for him. Reading. You can travel the world, go to other planets just from your bedroom," said Matthews.

He says Emmett needs a family who will love him so much, it will help him to thrive.

"Someone warm, understanding, very loving and compassionate," said Matthews.

Emmett says he wants parents who love animals just as much as he does.

"I feel happy around animals because it's like I know more about them than I do about people," said Emmett.

He wants to fall in love with an adoptive family and to hear two words of encouragement from a mother.

"Good job," he said.

Emmett has a very bright future, and he hopes more than anything it includes a forever family who loves him.
