SOUTHLAKE, Texas — If you have a calling to adopt an older child, this is the sign you've been looking for.

Today's Wednesday's Child is 13-year-old Liberty.

She is easygoing, super talented, loves to read, and is learning a second language quite easily.

"I like reading and writing. I love coloring, I love to draw," she said.

Liberty is taking Spanish in school and says it's been easy for her to learn it.

"I understand it," she told WFAA.

She also likes to scrapbooking. Liberty made a book filled with information about herself to help people get to know her better.

"My hope and dream is to become a veterinarian and help animals. I mostly love dogs because they're always kind-hearted. They're there for you no matter how you feel. They love to comfort you," she said.

Liberty's favorite book series is Harry Potter. She says the young boy wizard named Harry resonates with her.

"I can relate to Harry Potter, kind of like his past life. I can really relate to that. Just like he overcomes his past and gets to do his dreams," she said smiling.

Liberty opened up a lot about herself during a trip to Sweet & Sassy in Southlake. She got her hair straightened, her nails done, and a hand massage. She enjoyed being pampered but Liberty said she is most interested in learning.

"I'm a very fast learner too. I always love to read."

Just like today felt like an escape, so are books.

"If you read a very good book that you're interested in it's like you get taken away from all the hurt and all the bad things. It's like you're actually becoming a part of that book. It makes you feel really happy," she said.

Liberty's advocates say she's always trying to find ways to make them smile.

"I do like to help people a lot. If they're having a bad day I'll help them and talk to them about it."

Liberty wants a family to love her, just as she chooses to love others.

"I just want an ordinary family that just loves me and cares for me for who I am and helps me get past everything that's been hurting me."

Liberty is proud of herself for coming this far in life.

"My superpower would probably be. I don't know probably overcoming things."

And if all goes well, her adoptive family's superpower will be the ability to love unconditionally.
