DALLAS — Get ready for some cuteness overload! Wednesday's Child 13-year-old Jeffrey's sweet spirit is an inspiration.
WFAA met up Jeffrey at the Bedford Center YMCA, where met a dog named Boston, and they became instant best friends.
Jeffrey loves dogs.
"Boston is a good dog," he said in between loud laughing.
Jeffrey had a great time with Boston, feeding him treats and chasing him around the YMCA.
Jefferey is on the autism spectrum and doesn't use a whole lot of words, but he does like talking about Mrs. Carrie Dyck. She is his Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).
"She gives me a hug. She gives me chicken nuggets. She gives me some fries," he said with excitement.
"When he came into care, he wasn't verbal really, and now he's really verbal," Dyck said. "He's getting more verbal every day. I've known him six years."
While at the YMCA, Jeffrey got private swimming lessons too. Swimming calms his mind, just like spending time with people who care about him.
"He's learned how to be social. He's a lot more socially adept with people, because before, there was none of that," said Dyck.
Love is literally transforming Jeffrey's mind and life.
"I love him like he's mine," said Dyck.
If the love from his current advocates is helping Jeffrey to grow, imagine the transformation that will happen with the love from a forever family.
"He needs an active one, and one that doesn't mind lots of questions," said Dyck.
Jeffrey deserves parents who treasure his curiosity, fight for his education and love him for who he is.
"I love you," said Jeffrey to Dyck.
"He's like my heart walking around out there," she said. "He's a great boy and he deserves a great home."
