DALLAS — It's been almost two years since we first met a young girl who's chasing two dreams. One is to find a loving family and the other is to chase tornadoes.
Today's Wednesday's Child is 13-year-old Ebohnee.
"Hi, My name is Ebohnee. This is the forecast for today," said the beautiful young lady as she stood in front of the green screen at WFAA.
Ebohnee's dreams of becoming a meteorologist have only grown stronger since the last time we spoke with her in Jan 2023. This is what she told us at the time.
"I want to live up to my dream and look at the radar and stuff and actually get to see a tornado," she said.
Fast forward nearly two years and Ebohnee is still chasing her dream.
"You know your tornadoes!" WFAA Meteorologist and storm chaser Jesse Hawila exclaimed after spending some time with Ebohnee.
She reads books about tornadoes including the Great Tri-State Tornado that tore across Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, and Southwest Indiana on March 18, 1925.
Ebohnee told Hawila that they already know what she's looking for when she walks into her school library.
"I walk in there and the librarian knows what I'm going to go get. She says, here we ordered some more tornado books for you. I'm like thanks y'all!" she told Hawila who hosted her for an afternoon of learning everything about the weather.
We also brought Ebohnee to our WFAA studios to do the forecast herself.
"Stay inside 'cause I don't think y'all like getting wet, no way," she said.
Ebohnee loves to learn and have fun. She wants a family who loves her exactly the way she is.
"I want to be able to say I love you and stuff. I want to be able to be honest with them and they will still be honest with me. I want the same respect and I'll treat them with respect too," she said.
Ebohnee says the people at her residential treatment center have helped her through the storms in her life. She will soon be moving on from the RTC.
"I'm leaving my favorite RTC cuz they really did a lot for me. And it will be heart-crushing to leave everyone that's helped me," she said.
Thanks to their love and support, Ebohnee is ready for her forever family.
"I really will appreciate anyone who would want to adopt me. Like I will treat y'all the best!"
With an attitude full of sunshine, Ebohnee forecasts her future is looking very bright.
"To prove everyone that doubts me wrong and to live my best life."
