'I'm good at soccer': Wednesday's Child 11-year-old Daylan looks to score a goal with a forever family who will support his dreams

Finding loving parents is going to be a game changer for Daylan who currently relies on the Bible for guidance. He shared his favorite scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7.

FRISCO, Texas — If you're a parent, you know the importance of one-on-one time filled with love and attention.

Wednesday's Child 11-year-old Daylan needs this kind of attention. He is a firm believer in God, loves to read, and is an outgoing sports-loving child.

It was a warm welcome for Daylan at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. It's the home of FC Dallas!

FC Dallas legend Kenny Cooper presented Daylan with a personalized jersey and joined Head Coach Nico Estevez to tour the facility. Daylan had a great time meeting everyone. Cooper and the entire team made him feel like a part of their family.

"It was a fun experience," Daylan said. "He (Kenny Cooper) said I'm a natural. I'm good at soccer. He said I've got a strong leg. Even though I don't play soccer, I'm good at kicking it."

Daylan is also on the ball with being kind, like when he asks his foster mom if she needs a hug.

"Sometimes I feel like she's upset and I just want to make her not upset. I just want to make people happy," he said.

It takes a lot to extend a loving hug to someone, especially when you need one yourself. Daylan has been in foster care since 2020 and is praying that he's adopted before his birthday in September.

"I need a family. A good loving family," he said.

One of his favorite books is teaching him some big lessons, as he waits for his forever family.

Finding loving parents is going to be a game changer for Daylan who currently relies on the Bible for guidance. He shared his favorite scripture with WFAA: 2 Timothy 1:7.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and of a sound mind," he quoted from the Bible. "It means we shouldn't be afraid of anything," he said.

Daylan is strong and courageous because he says that's how God made him.

"I got some good talents. I'm good at art, at sketching. I love art. I like books. I like history."

He has sketched the perfect family in his head.

"One that goes outside and plays. Throwing a football, while one's inside playing a video game. Another is in a room watching a movie and eating popcorn," he said about the picture in his head.

Daylan has big plans for his future, both with a family and with a promising career.

"I kinda wanna be a NASCAR driver. I like cars. I like racing."

And the game plan is to find a forever family who will cheer him on from the stands. But first, he has to race into a family's heart.
