LANCASTER, Texas — A little girl who is intelligent, bold, and beautiful is hoping she gets adopted by a family just as wonderful.
Today's Wednesday's Child is 10-year-old Lamara.
WFAA met Lamara at Lancaster Music School for a private music lesson.
"We were learning about low and high notes and then at the end of the day we did the first part about the Little Mermaid and I got it. It took a little practice, but I got it," said Lamara proudly.
One-on-one attention and love are two things Lamara craves in her life.
"I'm fun to play with!"
This private music lesson also helped Lamara to find her voice. She opened up about all the things she loves.
"I like to color, paint, and watch TV. I play with slime which I don't have right now but I can make some. I like to play with toys and go shopping," she said.
"Sometimes I like to cook. I cook by myself. The one thing I don't know how to cook is shrimp and crab. I love seafood," she added.
Lamara is a bundle of joy. She's also curious about everything around her, including Mother Nature.
"How do volcanoes erupt? I'll ask my teacher," she said inquisitively.
Sadly, Lamara has been in and out of foster care for 7 years. Yet, she smiles, laughs, and is confident.
"She makes friends so easily. I've seen her in so many new schools and new situations and she comes out with a new friend and she sees the positive in everything," said her court-appointed special advocate Kathleen Cain.
Lamara especially sees the positive in school and told us what she's most excited about entering the 5th grade.
"I'm older than all the kids," she said.
Entering the 5th grade is going to be a great year because Lamara gets to excel in her two favorite subjects - Math and Science.
"Learning about bugs and frogs and other animals and their life cycle," she said adding that she wants to become a Kindergarten Math teacher.
"My teacher's name is going to be Ms. Mahogony, my middle name," she said because she thinks her middle name is beautiful.
Lamara hopes it's also the year a forever family chooses to love her.
"I just want somebody to adopt me," she said almost in a whisper.
Lamara's court-appointed special advocate says after most of her life in foster care, it's long past time for a loving family to embrace this beautiful child.
"She loves singing, tumbling and performing but she's really into trying new things. I think it's one of her best personality traits."
Lamara's soul would sing to be adopted by parents who care. And if you like shopping, well that would be music to her ears.
"Just take me shopping, that's it!" she said beaming.
