Operation BBQ Relief gives out over 1,800 meals to North Texans affected by storms

RICHARDSON, Texas — Operation BBQ Relief, a nonprofit organization that delivers food to disaster-stricken communities, spent the last few days in North Texas -- feeding those who were affected by the damaging storms.

On Thursday, the organization arrived in Richardson, where they worked to give out 1,850 meals to those impacted by power outages across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. 

They set up shop at Network of Community Ministries and gave out barbecue until they completely ran out.

On Tuesday, hundreds of thousands of Oncor customers woke up without power. As of Saturday, many are still in the dark in Denton, Collin, Tarrant and Dallas counties. 

Oncor told WFAA in an email Saturday that "teams continue working around the clock to restore power to the remaining customers impacted by storms this week. Storm-related power outages for homes and businesses that are capable of accepting power and were impacted by Tuesday's storm are expected to be substantially complete by Sunday morning."
