ARLINGTON - Drunk driving may have played a role in a deadly accident in Arlington late Sunday night.

Police said 30-year-old Erica Kolanowski, behind the wheel of a red sport utility vehicle, ran a red light at the intersection of Green Oaks Boulevard and Cooper Street around 11:20 p.m.

Her SUV plowed into a Dodge Avenger sedan, killing a passenger in the car. The driver of the sedan, 21-year-old Matthew Lundy of Arlington, was critically injured and was being treated at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Kolanowski, who also faces a charge of intoxication assault, was hospitalized and listed in fair condition, police said.

Besides alcohol, police are also trying to determine whether excessive speed played a factor in the accident. The posted speed limit is 45 mph on both streets.
