One dead in a single-car crash, fire in Tarrant County

According to police, the driver hit a drainage pipe off the roadway.

MANSFIELD, Texas — The Mansfield Police Department announced that a driver died after they crashed their car into a drainage pipe early Saturday morning. 

According to police, officers responded to the 2300 block of Newt Patterson Road to the report of a single-car crash around 3:51 a.m. 

Upon arrival, police say officers found the car involved, a Chevy Trax, engulfed in flames. 

Police say both the Rendon Fire Department and the Mansfield Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, police say they found the driver, dead inside the car.

According to police, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office declared the driver dead at the scene and will release their identity once the family is notified.
