Bad weather, good people: Off-road Jeep club rescues drivers stuck on Dallas highway due to ice

The group hooked their Jeeps to the big semis and towed them off the interstate.

DALLAS — Dozens of semi drivers got stuck on Interstate 20 in Dallas on Tuesday as icy conditions left truck drivers with little to no traction.

Thankfully, a handful of good people got word of the pretty bad weather.

“We are pulling semis!” Angel Muniz said.

Muniz is part of “Carnales Off Road,” a club of folks who ride Jeeps off-road.

On Tuesday, instead of enjoying their regular off-road ride, the group hooked their little Jeeps to the big semis and towed them off the interstate.

And they came prepared.

“Toe straps, shackles, you name it we’ve got everything!” Muniz added.

Amie Gomez is also part of Carnales Off Road.

“We pulled a couple cars out but mostly, the truckers. I know they’re probably tired from driving, so it’s good to help them out a little while we can,” she told WFAA.

“It’s just sad to see them stuck,” she added. “My dad’s a trucker, I feel for them and I want to do everything I can to help them out. And I know the rest of the guys do too.”

“The reality is, it’s bad out,” Muniz said. “We just want people to be safe.”

After successfully towing too many vehicles to count, Muniz said the group will be back out Wednesday to help if need be.

“I guess we did what we came here for, and that’s amazing.”
