Boil water notice lifted for Northlake in Denton County

The notice lasted for two days then on Thursday afternoon the city rescinded the notice saying the water is now safe to drink.

NORTHLAKE, Texas — Denton County officials have rescinded a boil water notice for Northlake residents Thursday afternoon.

The notice was issued on Tuesday for all Northlake municipal residents who live north of Farm Road 1171, except for the Canyon Falls subdivision.

Officials said a contractor hit a line at the Harvest pump station and a storage tank was drained, according to Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1.

The boil water notice was also having an impact on nearby schools. Officials said Lance Thompson Elementary School was having to provide bottled water for students and staff.

In a statement posted on the city's website: "The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of January 18, 2024.
