DALLAS — “It’s a horrific scene…it’s like things people tell you, aw this is a scene from a movie.”
That’s how one woman described the incident that happened on I-635 Tuesday morning when Dallas police say Angel Zamora-Moreno stabbed a man and hit two other people with vehicles.
“You’re literally watching someone maliciously trying to kill anything and everything that was in his way,” said the woman.
On Wednesday WFAA spoke with a woman who saw the entire situation unfold and recorded it. She wanted to remain anonymous because she was still scared about the situation.
The woman said she was headed to work at about 7 a.m. when her car was suddenly hit from behind.
According to the affidavit, Zamora-Moreno sideswiped several cars including the woman’s, which caused him to slide into the back of a trailer of an 18-wheeler.
The woman said once she got out to check the damage on her vehicle, she noticed Zamora-Moreno get out, go towards the back of his trunk and get a knife and charge towards her.
“He just had a malicious look and out of nowhere he just got a knife,” she said.
As Zamora-Moreno was banging on her window, she said a man in an orange shirt holding a pipe approached Zamora-Moreno, trying to stop him.
The two fought, and at one point, Zamora-Moreno was hit in the head but DPD said the man was stabbed several times and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. DPD said the man is still in the hospital but is now recovering.
“If it wasn’t for him, getting him away from our vehicle…I don’t know what that guy would’ve done,” she said.
From there, Zamora-Moreno turned his attention to a TxDOT employee who pulled over to help.
The affidavit said Zamora-Moreno got into the TxDOT vehicle and rammed the back of a pickup truck.
The affidavit said Zamora-Moreno, still driving the TxDOT truck, turned around on the highway struck the TxDOT worker in the leg, and then rammed another vehicle that was involved in the initial crash.
A medical worker saw this happen and exited her car to help. When she did, the affidavit said that Zamora-Moreno got into her car and started chasing her around the freeway. Zamora-Moreno reportedly ran the woman over and dragged her across two lanes of traffic.
A witness then went over to Zamora-Moreno, who was still in the victim's car, and reached out to press the ignition button and stop the car, the affidavit said. Zamora-Moreno got out of the car and ran about 100 feet until a group of bystanders caught him and held him down as police responded, according to the affidavit.
“A lot transpired within minutes and it’s like if it wasn’t for them, he wasn’t going to be done,” said the woman.
Zamora-Moreno is charged with seven counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and one count of criminal mischief, police said.
DPD said the two people who Zamora-Moreno hit with vehicles have been released from the hospital.
